I love this particular part of the sculpture because it demonstrates the forethought it takes for a sculptor to create accurate imagery of how live flesh behaves to pressure. The realism achieved is extraordinary.Bernini 1979 by Beth Shepherd Peters.
I saw this sculpture (Bernini’s Pluto and Proserpina) at the Galleria Borghese during my trip to Rome.
